Call for Presentations

 2019 Atlantic

Asset Management

Atlantic Infrastructure Management (AIM) Network is calling on asset management practitioners to present their stories at its second annual Atlantic Canada-wide asset management conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland September 5 & 6, 2019. Please share your experience on your asset management (AM) path as we explore the theme

“Piecing It All Together: From Awareness to Implementation”

AIM Network prides itself on helping municipalities across Atlantic Canada get started on their AM journey and encourages municipalities already underway to share what they have learned.

With the overall theme of “Piecing It All Together”, abstracts can be further broken down to reflect:

We want our people to be leaders and we want to create governance frameworks to enable the performance of our people

Progress & Performance

Recognizing challenges and risks to programs, our programs need to be agile and responsive to changing drivers

– ensuring people have the skills, training, and competencies needed and are organized to successfully advance their AM programs.

– developing plans for long-term infrastructure planning, capital program development, financing, and asset management plans by asset class.

Recognizing that plans are an output from a process and as long as the process keeps turning, plans will always be “alive”

– determining the effectiveness of our AM program, how well our efforts are being adopted throughout the municipality, what can be done to improve the program, and how we measure our success?

Consideration of other presentation topics, workshops, and panel discussions will be reviewed by the Technical Program Committee – please tell us about your ideas. Presentations are typically thirty (30) minutes – five (5) minutes for introduction, twenty (20) minutes for presentation highlights, and five (5) minutes for questions. Workshops and panel discussions may be sixty (60) to ninety (90) minutes, inclusive of time for introductions and a question and answer period. Networking opportunities will be available to follow-up with presenters.

AIM Network is focused on municipal asset management. Presentations from municipal entities are recommended. Partnered presentations (municipalities with consultants) are encouraged. Presentations aimed at selling a product or service are not appropriate. All submissions will be subject to review and acceptance by the conference Technical Program Committee.
